This Weeks Westmorland Gazette published June 6th 2024 Also an article online Heavyweights of the Cumbrian and international art world are coming together next month to take part in a new exhibition. Titled, 'Rock Solid?2', the exhibition will last from May 9 to June 29 at the People’s Gallery, Kendal Museum and will coincide with a series of events including an art trail through Kendal town centre. The exhibition is a fascinating exploration of Lake District landscape and the plan to use coastal geology to contain atomic wastes. Over 20 artists, including notable mountain painter Julian Cooper, and internationally acclaimed artist, Russell Mills, will be taking part. The guest artist for the event will be Martin Greenland, winner of the John Moore’s Painting Prize. Here is one of the videos to see on the big screen at Rock Solid? 2 By filmaker and installation artist Irene Rogan . The exhibition includes paintings, drawings and photographs from International and Cumbrian artists along with installations and lots of archive material. Runs until 29th June at The People's Gallery, Kendal Museum. Entry and opening Entry to the People’s Gallery is free and open to public Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9:30-16:30. After a busy couple of days making final preparations, working with artists, participating shops and Kendal Museum, Rock Solid? 2 is ready to launch. Here are just a few glimpses of thought provoking installations alongside beautiful works inspired by the Lake District's geology from the mountains to the sea.
